National Park Week April 16-24: Free Admission! Go!

How many national parks can you visit in one week? How many could you visit, if admission was free!?!

I’m going for five, during the week of free admissions, April 16-24. But I could do more.

Any idea which ones?

Shannon Garrett has Lady Liberty in the palm of her hand.

First, I’m headed to New York City for the this year’s annual Easter-fest New York International Auto Show. So, what makes sense in NYC? How about visiting Lady Liberty (http://www.nps.gov/stli/index.htm) and Ellis Island?

Then, I’m headed back to California. How about Yosemite (http://www.nps.gov/yose/index.htm) and Sequoia (http://www.nps.gov/seki/index.htm) and Kings Canyon?

Maybe over to scope out Death Valley (http://www.nps.gov/seki/index.htm); after all, it is Wildflower Season and 2011 has one of the best displays yet!

Then into Nevada; here’s an obscure one: http://www.nps.gov/grba/index.htm

For the big bonanza, I’m headed to Utah – where I could easily do all five…and be home for dinner!

I’ll start at Zion National Park  (http://www.nps.gov/zion/index.htm), then hop on over to Bryce Canyon http://www.nps.gov/brca/index.htm) and then – if it’s open – the North Rim of the Grand Canyon (http://www.nps.gov/grca/index.htm). Maybe I’ll have a few extra minutes for Canyonlands (http://www.nps.gov/cany/index.htm). Just out my back door is Cedar Breaks (http://www.nps.gov/cebr/index.htm).

Are you getting into it yet? I am!
